About Track Traveller
Hi there, I’m Chris and this is my corner of Europe.
I travel slowly, by train and overland, seeking out scenic routes, hidden corners, and the kind of places you only discover when you don’t rush.
Look out for thoughtful itineraries, practical tips, and stories from the road. I believe the journey matters just as much as the destination – sometimes even more.
Here’s what you’ll find on Track Traveller
- Destination Guides: In-depth guides to European cities, small towns, and lesser-known regions. I share local highlights, hidden spots, and practical advice to help you explore beyond the obvious.
- Scenic Routes & Itineraries: Thoughtfully planned overland journeys across Europe, designed for travellers who prefer meaningful travel over rushed schedules. Expect realistic pacing and ideas for memorable stops along the way.
- Travel Tips & Resources: Practical advice for slower, more intentional travel – from planning smarter to packing lighter and making the most of your time on the road.
- Stories from the Rails: Train travel is about more than getting from A to B. I share reflections from the carriage window – shifting landscapes and the quiet moments that make the journey unforgettable.

The Journey In Numbers
Slow Travel, Measured Differently.
These numbers tell the story of miles travelled, borders crossed, and journeys taken the scenic way.
Every figure represents time spent exploring Europe more thoughtfully – one route, one landscape, one carriage window at a time.
Because the most memorable journeys aren’t measured in speed, but in the moments collected along the way.
Hello, I’m Chris
I’m a slow travel blogger from the UK, passionate about exploring Europe at a thoughtful pace. After years in corporate PR, I now combine storytelling with my love of discovering new places.
Travel has become even more meaningful as my daughter has grown older, letting us enjoy Interrail journeys across Europe – from the UK to Rome, Berlin to Croatia, and beyond. These trips have shown me that slow travel, where the journey is as important as the destination, is the best way to explore.
If you want to know more, read my article about my favourite counties for slow travel in Europe. When I’m not travelling, I love cooking, running, football, golf, and learning German (very slowly!).
I’m happiest wandering through new streets, sampling local food and drink, and catching sunsets from the perfect viewpoint.
